Alisha Valerio

Alisha Valerio was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, an emphasis in gerontology and Minor in Therapeutic Recreation and ultimately a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Alisha began her career in social services almost 30 years ago working with adolescents for the state of Utah in Juvenile Justice Services. Alisha has had the honor of providing mental health services for those in need in many capacities and locations; the mountains of Montana, the deserts of Nevada, in the ocean side town of Encinitas, California and in homeless encampments of the Salt Lake valley. Alisha is committed to meeting each person where they are, unconditional positive regard, authenticity and in allowing ourselves to laugh as we travel life’s journey. Alisha strongly believes that family is of fundamental importance to our society in its many shapes, sizes and colors. Alisha brings enthusiasm to working with youth and their families to instill positive core values in an effort to give them guiding principles for living their best lives. “I am so grateful to be a therapist at Youth Care where I am surrounded by exceptional professionals who possess a wealth of experience, education and genuine compassion for the people we serve.” Alisha is the mother of an amazing daughter, enjoys reading, movies, connecting with nature, making memories with friends and family.
