Sophia Moreno, ACMHC

Therapist

Originally from California, Sophia Moreno was inspired to pursue a career in mental health by her parents, a forensic psychologist and a hospital social worker. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English and master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Utah. Before becoming a therapist, Sophia spent four years as a Behavioral Health Associate at Youth Care, where she developed a strong passion for working with adolescents and families. Her clinical experience also includes internships at Youth Care and the Utah State Prison, where she worked with incarcerated women and individuals experiencing severe mental illness. Sophia takes a psychodynamic approach to therapy, integrating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients understand how past experiences influence present behaviors and challenges. She values creating a space where clients feel heard and understood, using humor, genuine connection, and therapeutic insight to help them build skills and begin new chapters. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, fitness classes, tennis, traveling, coffee, and spending time with family and friends.
